Environmentally Friendly Fishingrubber Bait Without Lead & Softener

Environmentally friendly fishing – rubber bait without lead & softener Anyone who is involved in fishing in Norway or is already an enthusiastic sea angler will sooner or later arrive at probably the most successful bait for this type of fishing: Rubber fishes and those that can reach XXL dimensions. Nothing is more successful on big cod, halibut, saithe etc. The fishing industry now offers these lures in all colours and sizes, in weights that can even exceed 500 g. And this brings us straight to a core topic: weight. Because of the considerable depths and currents it is essential that our lures have a relatively high weight to be able to reach the fish quickly and above all to stay there. And what would be the best way to achieve this with the traditionally used material lead? Negative properties of leadBut wait, there was something else – lead is a heavy metal and one with toxic properties. It is a very toxic metal and apart from the fact that we anglers have been polluting ourselves with it for years, we still spread many tons of it in the environment year after year. There have been and still are many discussions about lead while fishing, most of them with the aim to trivialize the disadvantages of lead in order to be able to continue to put this popular material on the shelves of fishing shops and not to burden the conscience unnecessarily. Surely only a matter of time until the other European countries in particular follow suit, when even the USA has adopted such a general ban on lead from January 2022 onwards. Why is lead so popular for fishing? Lead is very heavy and very dense and is therefore ideal for weighing down bait. Its low melting point makes it very easy to work with, and the cost of purchase is very low?looking for alternatives to classic lead headsWhat to do if you don’t want to give up the number one lure? Right, it needs an alternative. Cleanbaits has developed a clean lure or a clean jig head, which makes it possible to offer the same properties as a classic lead jig head using environmentally friendly materials. Both the jig head and the rubber bait are made of materials that are absolutely clean and do not contain any harmful lead or dyes that will later dissolve in the water.Cleanbaits presentationWe talked to Cleanbaits maker Stefan Strenger about his baits and asked him to present them to us in more detail. After 35 years of fishing in Norway, we still couldn’t find a big rubber that didn’t contain lead, so we decided to find a solution ourselves in 2017 and started to develop such a lure. After many years of development and testing, we launched Cleanbaits last year and presented a top alternative that is now being used successfully by many enthusiastic anglers. Last but not least, the editor-in-chief of the Norway magazine can read about it on the Cleanbaits homepage – what is so special about Cleanbaits? Well, apart from the fact that it is one of the most successful lures for sea fishing, which of course remains the main goal of the hobby, Cleanbaits does not only do without the heavy metal lead, but also without the highly dubious plasticizers containing plastisols and finally cleans up all known jigs with some constructive night parts.wow – a new wonder bait from the fishing industry’s bag of tricks? No, definitely not, but certainly a completely new dimension for sea fishing, and therefore this lure is not manufactured and distributed by one of the big fishing equipment manufacturers, but everything is manufactured in Germany from A-Z in a family business. To achieve the first goal, the complete renunciation of lead, all Cleanbaits Jigheads are made of high quality V4A stainless steel. Only this material could meet the demand to have an almost new and corrosion-free jighead in the fishing box even after years of use in seawater. Technically none, but of course it is much easier to produce the next futuristic looking jig head by simply casting a hook into a lead head of any kind and possibly coating it with paint than to produce a V4A head on CNC machines. Whoever is familiar with stainless steel of the V4A quality class knows that such a thing requires a completely different machine park and high
