Spinning Rod Review: 5 Spinning Rods Under 100 Bucks Reviewed & Comparison

By

Looking for the right spinning rod? In the spinning rod test you will find a total of 5 fishing rods that we have tested extensively.

Note: From time to time it can happen that selected fishing rods are not available for a short time. If this is the case, you will find numerous rods from the spinning category on this overview page.

How did we test?

After the respective spinning rod arrived at our office, we unpacked it and inspected it. Here we already made first notes regarding haptics and processing. But in order to get a comprehensive picture of the spinning rod, we had to test it on the lake, of course.

So we tested the rods for casting characteristics and handling. All these characteristics then flowed into the overall evaluation. This is a graphic evaluation which you can find at the end of each spinning rod.

Which spinning rods have we tested?

The following are the spinning rods we have tested.

  • Fox Rage Ultron Lure N Shad 14-42g (240cm / 270cm)
  • Shimano Biomaster Spin 7’1″MH
  • Berkley Skeletor Pro – Spin
  • Sportex Black Pearl 2,75m 60g WG BR2753
  • DAM Effzett SLR – spinning rod, 2 pcs.

Note: This item might not be available at the moment. The following display spinning rods offer an alternative.

The AnzeigeFox Rage Ultron Lure N Shad is a solid spinning rod for fishing for pike, zander, perch and trout. It is available either in the size 2.40m or 2.70m. All in all it is delivered in 2 parts and is therefore very convenient to transport.

The casting weight is 14-42g and is therefore ideal for spin fishing. When we held it in our hands for the first time, we found that it is really comfortable in our hands. It is also noticeable that it is very light. This means that even after sitting for a long time you will avoid the symptoms of fatigue in your arms and hands. Also very nice is that the tip is very sensitive and therefore reacts immediately to small movements.

Shimano Biomaster Spin 7’1″MH

The Shimano Biomaster Spin 7’1″ is from Shimano. Shimano is known for its high quality spinning rods and the very good quality. The Shimano Biomaster Spin 7’1″MH is one of the lightest rods we ever had.

It has a very good action when drilling. Like the previous model, the Shimano Biomaster Spin 7’1″MH shows a very sensitive bite – even on smaller specimens. All in all it lies well in the hand. In contrast to many other spinning rods, this one has something to grip because the handle is thick. This is an advantage especially with big hands.

  • Length: 215 cm
  • Transport length: 111 cm
  • Weight: 123 g
  • Rings: 9
  • Parts: 2

This spinning rod also convinced us. Unfortunately the hook eye is missing here, but that is not really bad either. If you are looking for a solid spinning rod, this model is definitely a good choice.

DAM Effzett SLR – Spinning rod, 2 pcs.

Note: It is possible that this item is not available at the moment. The following display spinning rods offer an alternative.

The DisplayDAM Effzett SLR – Spinning Rod, 3.30m, 20-40g, 2 pcs. is definitely the cheapest spinning rod in the test. But not necessarily worse than the other spinning rods.  This spinning rod has a casting weight of 100g and is therefore also ideal for larger capital predatory fish.

This gives it the biggest casting weight of all. It has a classic cork handle which is also very good in the hand. We were also able to achieve very good ranges with a smaller casting weight. But the name SLR already says it all: Super Long Range (very high range).
