All in all, the Black Cat fishing rod Bait Maker Feeder is a professional model which is not only suitable for catfish fishing. In our opinion the casting weight could be a bit higher, but the casting characteristics are very good. We can therefore recommend it.

Daiwa Feederrod Aqualite Heavy Feeder up to 180g

The indicationDaiwa Feederrod Aqualite Heavy Feeder is a little bit bigger than the already presented Feederrod from Black Cat. The diameter is relatively thin compared to other rods and impresses with a relatively solid weight of 310g. Furthermore, it lies very well in the hand and you can hold it without problems for a longer period of time. Not least due to the carbon fibre blank. It looks very balanced.

The backbone is extremely stable and you can achieve very long casts with the feeder rod. This is not least due to the high casting weight of up to 180 g and the light rod weight.  So we were able to place really heavy baskets in the desired position even when the water was raging.

We also liked the fact that the rings in the quiver tips are slightly larger. So we could also use whipping lines without any problems. A total of 2 tips are included.

Browning Rods 4.20m Ambition Power XH Feeder – 180g

Note: This item might not be available at the moment. Alternatively, the following display feeder rods are available.

Already when you hold the AnzeigeBrowning Ambition Power XH Feeder in your hands for the first time, you notice how powerful it is. This of course gives the feeder rod the stability it needs for heavy loads. This is also the reason for the relatively high weight of 402 g. But with 4,20 m it is also a bit longer than the Daiwa model.

Due to the fact that it is a bit heavier, untrained people can easily start sweating. The ejection to place the food basket accordingly is a real pain in the neck. The only thing that helps here is training or choosing a different feeder rod. But for the more experienced, the Browning Ambition Power XH Feeder can achieve very targeted casts. The casting weight of 180 g is correspondingly high. Especially if you want to go far out, this rod is a blessing.

If you love river fishing and don’t want to give up feeder fishing, you won’t be able to avoid the Ambition Power XH Feeder.

All important things at a glance

In short, the most important points from the feeder rod test summarized:

  • Brand: Browning
  • Product name: Ambition Power XH Feeder
  • Length: 4.20 m
  • Pitch: 3+2
  • Throwing weight: 180 g
  • Transport length: 1. 47 m
  • Weight: 402 g

Our conclusion

All in all the Ambition Power XH feeder is very well suited for feeder fishing. But it has a high weight of more than 400 g which can lead to “heavy” arms when casting and when drilling. If you go to the gym often, this rod will certainly be a blessing for you. Because you can achieve very good and targeted casts with this rod.

SPRO Berti Boven’s Big River Pellet Feeder 420

Note: This item may not be available at the moment. As an alternative, the following display feeder rods can be used.

The SPRO Berti Bovens Big River Pellet Feeder with a total length of 4.20 m is just as long as Browning’s feeder rod.  It also has a casting weight of up to 300 g. This makes it the model with the highest casting weight in this feeder rod test, which means you can cast very heavy mounts with large feed baskets.

We also think it is great that a total of 3 rod tips are sent with the rod.  This way you can equip the rod according to the expected target fish and influence the sensitivity of the bite indicator. Thanks to the cork grip it also lies very well in the hand and feels really comfortable. Of course, this is also a point not to be neglected with a proud weight of 440 g. Because the rod can also be thrown quickly into the arms.

Especially in strong currents, such as on the Rhine, where you need heavy feed baskets, it is ideal. Because it also has a correspondingly strong backbone. It is not necessarily the shortest rod for transportation, 1.52 m, but it is perfectly adequate for various fishing bags.

The most important facts summarized

Short and sweet, the most important points summarized

  • Brand: SPRO
  • Weight: 440 g
  • Transport length: 152 cm
  • Parts: 3+3
  • Casting weight: 200 to 300 g
  • Rings
  • SIC-ringing
  • Length: 4,20 m

All in all this feeder rod with a total length of 4,20 m is a very large and heavy fishing rod which is especially suitable for larger specimens such as thick carp. Furthermore it has very good casting characteristics which makes it easy to carry even very heavy feed baskets.

Of course the right fishing line is also crucial. We also liked the fact that a total of 3 feeder rod tips are included. We can therefore recommend this feeder rod to anyone who wants to feed properly and is looking for a rod that is very strong and robust.

DAM Sumo TRX Carp Feeder – Feeder rod, 25-75g, 3+3 parts

The AnzeigeDAM Sumo TRX Carp Feeder is a typical light feeder rod from DAM. With a casting weight of 25 to 75g it has the lowest casting weight among the feeder rods tested here. Therefore it is especially suitable for light peace fishing. The cork handle has been ergonomically shaped and therefore lies well in the hand. This is an important feature, especially if you stand by the water for a long time.

Despite the low casting weight, it has a relatively strong backbone. In addition it is supplied with a softer tip. Unfortunately there are no other rod tips available as with some other rods presented here. This is a pity, but it is much cheaper in comparison.

With a weight of only 210 g it is light and almost half as heavy as the SPRO Berti Bovens Big River Pellet Feeder. However, this makes it less suitable for pulling the really big fish ashore.

Shakespeare Agility Power Feeder Rod

Note: This article may not be available at the moment. As an alternative you can use the following display feeder rods.

The Shakespeare Agility Power is a typical rod for feeding. When we first held it in our hands we noticed that it is not too soft but not too hard. So it is flexible but still with the necessary hardness for heavy feeders. All in all it is designed for a throwing weight of up to 120 g and thus comes to a relatively light total weight of 227 g.

This feeder rod also has a basket handle which is comfortable to hold. Cork is one of the most popular materials for fishing rods. For more flexibility the rod comes with 3 casting tips. That means in 2, 3 and 4 oz and are therefore ideal for being changed when new requirements such as a different body of water arise. We also liked the fact that the Shakespeare Agility Power Feeder rod comes with a rod bag. This means you are well equipped for a gentle transport.

The Shakespeare Agility Power Feeder Rod is excellent in workmanship. The materials are of very high quality and fit together perfectly. Especially if you attach importance to high quality, this rod is exactly the right one.

Concluding Opinion on Feederrods Test

After our Feederrod Test, the best rod that came out best was the AnzeigeDaiwa Feederrute Aqualite Heavy Feeder with a casting weight of up to 180g. However, the results were very close together, so that of course it always depends on your own personal requirements, such as the waters to be fished and the corresponding target fish.
