The Quantum Fire rolls are in the medium price segment for around €40 to €50. The reel series is available in 4 different sizes, so everything is covered for light trout fishing up to pike and zander fishing. I gave this reel to a young angler as a present two years ago and have used it myself more often. The reel is not only very light thanks to the built-in graphite carbon body, it also turns like this. Never before have I experienced such lightness in a mid-range reel. The 10 ball bearings make the reel really smooth.
Equipment and technical details
The foam rubber grip feels very good and offers a good grip with wet fingers even on the smaller models thanks to its striking size.
The ratio of 5.2 : 1 on all models is solid and corresponds to the standard ratio for spinning reels. If you are not used to it, too high ratios often have the consequence that you fish past the fish too fast and the lure moves too fast. At least that is true for me. Also the infinite backstop does exactly what it should and the crank has no backlash.
The Quantum Fire 20 has now been in use for over a year by a young angler who is not exactly squeamish about it. Nevertheless it does its job like new out of the box. I have often had the “honour” of fishing this reel and am really convinced of the quality and value for money. The brake also starts very cleanly and jerk-free which is, as often mentioned, an absolute must for a spinning reel. Tip: Because of its lightness the reel should also be fished on light (purely in terms of weight) rods otherwise the balance is not right. Conclusion: Convincing technique at a convincing price I could not find any defects. Therefore the spinning reel is definitely above average for the price segment. I was immediately fired up for the Fire reel and will certainly not order it for someone else next time.
